With the High Court issuing a notice, it seems there is no respite for Bharathi Urs, who was recently acquitted from the sensational Chitralekha Urs murder case.
The High court has issued a notice to the state government seeking their opinion on an appeal filed by the deceased's mother, Sharada Urs, before the court.
Senior advocate Navkesh Batra who filed the appeal on behalf of Sharada, termed the appeal as a first-of-its kind in the state. Usually, only the state government is permitted to appeal against the order.
The case
Bharathi was accused, with two others, of murder of Chitralekha, a cousin, in January 2004 over a financial row.

On May 20 this year, the Fast Track and sessions court (FTC), after six long years of trail, had acquitted Bharathi, citing lack of evidence.
The presiding officer of the FTC, Judge Amaranarayana apart from Bharathi, had also acquitted T Madhukumar and L N Chandrakanth, charged with abducting Chitralekha from the Palm Grove Nursery, owned by liquor baron Hari Khoday on January 19, 2004.
Recently, the Supreme Court has directed the courts to play a participatory role, rather than just beingu00a0 spectators.
Prosecution failure
The court cited one of the reasons for the acquittal as that the prosecution had failed to provide the location of the tower, from where the victim and the accused used mobile phones.
u00a0"Though the prosecution has failed to get the details, the court could have asked the authorities to provide the details. There are many such issues, which will be taken up in the trail.
We have also filed an objection seeking directions to the lower court not to release the mobile phones and other seized items, which could be used for the trail.
The High court has considered the appeal and issued necessary directions," said Batra. The trail may commence soon after the notices are served within a week.
