The former cricketer was discharged from Lilavati Hospital yesterday; doctors ruled out heart attack but conducted an angiography and other routine tests
Former cricketer Vinod Kambli was discharged from Bandra’s Lilavati hospital on Tuesday afternoon after recuperating in the hospital’s ICU for the last four days. He had been rushed to the hospital after he complained of breathlessness and chest pain.

Speaking to MiD DAY, Dr JP Jadwani, cardiologist at the hospital said, “Kambli did not suffer a heart attack, but he underwent an angiography and other routine tests were also conducted. We were worried because he has a history of a heart condition. However, that was not the case this time and he has recovered well.”
He, however, refused to comment on what caused Kambli’s chest pains, sweating and anxiety while he was driving alone in his Pajero from Bandra to Chembur. Kambli had undergone an angioplasty on two blocked arteries in the Bandra hospital in July 2012.
Soon after his discharge, Kambli said, “I am grateful to all my well-wishers who prayed for my speedy recovery. It is because of their good wishes and the efforts of efficient doctors that my health has shown remarkable improvement. I remain indebted to all the people for their continuous support and prayers.”
Timely help
Kambli was rushed to the hospital by senior inspector of Matunga traffic division, Sujata Patil, a constable, and Kumar Datta Shedage from Highway Apartments in Chunabhatti, after he was unable to drive. Patil said that the former cricketer was sweating profusely, and repeatedly insisted that they rush him to a hospital.u00a0
