The Handmade Collective, an official launch of A Hundred Hands in the form of an exhibition is here to bring to town the marvels of handicraft from across the country. Started as a non-profit organisation with two partners, A Hundred Hands initially organised small scale exhitbions in partner Mala Dhawan's garden.

"I have been hosting small exhibitions in my garden for the past few years", says Dhawan. "The idea is to bring together artists of all kind across small and larger formats and link them to the market.

It is a support group to bring together craft where everything must be handmade and no middlemen are involved," she adds. With deep faith in the language of art and how working with hands can break barriers of all kinds, Dhawan runs Hundred Hands with her sister and has a group of advisors and supporters who work on barter.

She recollects the time when a photographer who shot a craftsman was paid in kind. What was mostly a garden endeavor has grown to a bigger space this week with a benevolent neighbour's empty plot that will house the works of 40 artists. Choose from baubles of many kinds, weaves, silks and many more items of craft.
