Coimbatore: State convenor of Hindu Makkal Katch (Hanuman Sena) A Shaktivel has been detained under the Goondas Act for his "involvement" in various criminal cases.

Shaktivel is under judicial remand in the central jail here after his arrest on charges of illegally erecting a temporary pedestal and temple for Lord Shiva, claiming a Shivalingam was unearthed in Kovaipudur on city outskirts on August 15. A murder case and an attempt to murder case were pending against him.

Moreover, he had falsely claimed that he was abducted by some terrorists in Kerala. Investigation revealed that, he enacted the kidnap drama for getting police protection to raise his image and also seeking publicity.
