He has an impressive resume with projects like Billu Barber and Veer under his belt. Rahimuddin alias Imran Hashmi, 26, could have had a fruitful career in Bollywood, if it wasn't for the small matter of him being a fugitive with murder charges on his head.

Rahimuddin fled from police custody twice in two different states while being taken to court. According to the police, on both the occasions, in Ghaziabad and Delhi, he managed to befriend some officials with his glib talk and then gave them the slip.

After managing to con the police, he made his entry into the film industry with the help of a few side actors from Mumbai and played bit parts in films like Billu Barber, Veer, My Friend Ganesha Part II among others. But the fact remained that he had escaped after committing murders and had become a desperate gangster. The UP police had declared a reward of Rs 25,000 while the Delhi Police had declared a Rs 50,000 prize on his arrest.

Acting on a tip-off that Rahimuddin had come to the Capital to meet an associate of gangster Jaggu Pehalwan, the police apprehended him at a security checkpoint when he refused to stop and started threatening them with a firearm.u00a0

"We had received information that he would be coming to DLF Emporio Mall to meet his associate around 6 pm. The police officials saw him standing outside the mall at 6.30 pm. He was asked to surrender but he threatened them with a gun. However, our officials overpowered and arrested him," said a senior police official.
The police have recovered a pistol and two live cartridges.
