A two-month-old baby boy, abandoned near Moshi Village on the Pune-Nashik road, was rescued by a cattle herder last night.

The baby was taken to YCM Hospital and was found to be healthy except a small yellow patch on his skin, said doctors.

Nathibai said that the child was lying hidden amongst stones and crying loudly with just a thin piece of cloth on him."

I was walking my herd, when I heard a faint cry. First I thought it might have been some animal but as I neared, I realised it was a child and I rushed to pick it up," she said.

According to the doctors, officials from nearby Pimpri police station had been informed about the case.

"A case will be filed against the infant's parents and a search will be initiated to look for them. Until then the child will be referred to Sassoon Hospital," said a doctor at YCM hospital.
