Chief vigilance officer of Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Ltd. (KPTCL) K S Thammaiah was hacked to death by a gang of four men in Kenchenahalli, near Yelahanka, yesterday.
M R Pujar, additional commissoiner of police (law and order), who visited the hospital, said that a case has been registered and investigations were on. "We've got a vital clue which we would not like to disclose at this point.
The culprits will soon be tracked down," Pujar said.
Property dispute?
Basavaraj Malagatti, DCP, North East Division, said, "Thammaiah and his brothersu00a0 owned around four acres of land in a prime location in Yelahanka. We suspect property row led to the murder."
However, Thammaiah's relatives said they had no idea of the motive behind the incident or the persons involved in it.
Thammaiah, who was additional superintendent of police in Hassan district, retired two years ago. He was appointed on contract basis by KPTCL in its vigilance division, recently.
