For a godman, Swami Bhimanand is very well connected. But then, he is anu00a0 'Ichadhari'. Or, so his devotees thought till now.
The man who donned the disguise of a guru for his expansive sex racket was using at least 12 different mobile phone numbers to manage his business.
The Swami, real name Rajeev Ranjan Dwivedi, had numbers that have been traced to escort agencies in Kolkata, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. One of the numbers 9810255799 was of a Kolkata-based escort agency whereas 9810766655 belonged to a Hyderabad-based escort service.
The other numbers that were in operation were 9810259183, 9810252779, 9810255038, 9810254280, 9810258453, 9810251260, 9810255014, 9810256903, 9810251194, 9810252386.
The racket was unearthed on Thursday following inputs provided by Sonu Punjaban, arguably the national capital's biggest pimp, and Kanwaljeet. Both were business partners of Dwivedi.
However, Punjaban rejected her involvement as "conspiracy theory". She told MiD DAY that since her name was there in Swami's diary, rumours that she got him arrested were gaining currency. "It was just a matter of
"We have recorded a steep fall in our business. Most of our old customers have distanced themselves from us. Online customers are afraid of calling, thinking that police might be tapping our numbers. Moreover, the girls working with us are also afraid to go out," she said.
More than 500 girls were associated with Dwivedi. Apart from Delhi, he used to send girls to Bangalore, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Shimla and Mumbai. All the girls were classified in various categories and rates were fixed accordingly. Dwivedi used to keep 30-40 per cent of the commission in every deal.
On February 25, Delhi Police received a tip-off that some pimps and sex workers would come to PVR Saket for alluring potential customers. The police sent a decoy to strike a deal with the pimps, following which Dwivedi was arrested with six girls. The police also recovered six red diariesu00a0-- three related to his spiritual centers and
three dealing with his illegal activities.
