Sahir Hussain, a Delhi-based lawyer, who specialises in corporate litigation said, "As chairman and commissioner of the IPL, Modi is well within his limits to divulge information to the public about the tournament he is managing," said Hussain.
According to Naveen Chomal, an advocate of the Bombay High Court, Modi revealed details in public interest.
"When such a big company is operating on this sort of scale, the public needs to know the owners so I don't think Modi has done anything wrong here," said Chomal.
Indian cricket board president Shashank Manohar is believed to have reprimanded Modi for posting details of the Kerala team stakes.

However, the IPL chief told CNN-IBN that he would not speak on matters which are discussed at the Board level.
