State Chief Secretary Jayant Banthia and MMRDA Commissioner UPS Madan went on an official tour of Belgium in September, during which they visited various bridges and other infrastructure projects in the country. The officials were highly impressed with the firms that executed the projects, and how they managed to finish them within the stipulated deadline.
Madan said, “We will be signing an MoU with Department of Trade and Investment of Belgium on Wednesday. When we visited Belgium, we saw that some of the infrastructure companies were very good at constructing bridges. We feel that they can be helpful in building similar structures in the MMR.”
Since the entire plan for the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) project is ready, MMRDA will not be seeking help from Belgian firms for the project. However, it may seek expert opinion on the Rewas-Karanja sea link in Raigad, Bhayandar-Naigaon bridge and other important projects. u00a0
