Accused: Ramakrishna

Preliminary investigations revealed that Ramakrishna killed his wife, Pramila, over a property dispute. The accused was allegedly forcing his wife to part with a share of her ancestral property. He had even forced Pramila to file a civil suit against her brothers.

Pramila, a BE graduate and a contractual employee with Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd, had recently defied her husband's wishes by withdrawing the case against her family members, stating that she did not need a share in
the property.

Victim: Pramila

An enraged Ramakrishna decided to murder her after the case was withdrawn. On Saturday, Ramakrishna asked Pramila to come to the petrol bunk on Nelamangala road to discuss the property issue. Ramakrishna's brother Manjunath owns the petrol bunk.

Pramila informed her brother Shivappa before setting out to meet Ramakrishna at the petrol bunk. A few hours later, Shivappa got a call on his mobile from Ramakrishna stating that Pramila had met with an accident and was being taken to Harsha Hospital.

Suspecting foul play, Shivappa and his brothers rushed to Harsha Hospital on Nelamangala road, where doctors declared Pramilau00a0 brought dead. "Pramila had severe head injuries and an injury to her left eye," said Shivappa, adding that he had filed a complaint with the police suspecting foul play in the death.

Ramakrishna, who was at the hospital, tried to convince Shivappa that Pramila's death was an accident. "My sister wanted her children to get a rightful share and got killed in the process," Shivappa told the police.

The Nelamangala police have taken Ramakrishna and his brother Manjunath into custody and are interrogating them. "We have taken up a case under section 302 of IPC and will take suitable action once the post-mortem report is out," said an officer from the Nelamangala police station.

Pramila left behind her two children -- Dhanush, who is studying in Standard X, and daughter, Nischala, studying in Standard II. Both children are now in Shivappa's care.
