Allege that the medical staff of Suguna hospital was negligent, demand a probe
Employers of Satyanarayana Rao (26), who died after three hernia operations, have accused the medical staff of Suguna Hospital of negligence. They have lodged a complaint at the Rajaji Nagar police station.
Rao came Bangalore at an early age from Kundapura (Udupi district), and grew up in an orphanage. He finished his secondary education in first class but was not able to pursue higher education.

Failing that, he pursued a vocational course, which landed him a job with Volvo.
Now that he was gainfully employed, Rao started visiting orphanages and NGOs, because he wanted to adopt five orphans, and provide them education.
But unknown to everyone, Rao was suffering from Hernia, and had taken dates for an operation at the Suguna Hospital.
Raghavendra said, "He didn't want to burden me when he went to the clinic, so he didn't tell me anything about the operation. I got to know when he called me just before his first operation."
On August 10, Rao went for his first operation.

Three days after first operation, doctors realised there had been a mistake because there was a red patch on his abdomen, and his pulse rate was high.

His colleagues allege that this was because his liver and small intestine were damaged.
Chandy PA, Group Leader, Volvo, told MiD DAY, " During my conversion with Dr Ravindranath, he said that there were problems with his liver and intestine. But the doctor also said that before the first operation, Rao was fit.

This is clearly a case of negligence." On August 14, the doctors performed a second surgery.

Ten hours after the operation, Rao went into his first cardiac arrest. Another one followed, four hours later. Doctors performed another emergency operation, but could not save him.
Doctors and management from the hospital denied allegations of negligence.

Mahendra Kumar, CEO, Suguna Hospital, said, "The patient died die to medical complications, and not negligence. He had problems even before he was admitted to the hospital."
Nandeesh Kumar, Rao's colleague, said, "They were in a hurry to transfer his body in morning. It clearly shows
it was just to hide their mistake."
Rajaji Nagar police inspector AG Kariyappa said, "We have taken up the case and have started an investigation. We are waiting for the post mortem report. If it's a case of negligence, we will arrest the culprits."
