Of all agencies, you would expect the postal services to get their addresses and locations right. But going by the plight of the residents of Marol and JB Nagar in Andheri (East), this is too much to ask for. MiD DAY has learnt that Marol Naka post office and JB Nagar delivery centre are nowhere to be found where their names suggest they are located. Instead, both are located far in the interior of Marol Military Road, at least 2.5 kilometres away from the areas they deliver to.

Needless to say, this has created much confusion and consternation among residents of the area. Aziz Amreliwala, a resident of the area, has written many letters to the postal authorities requesting that the name of the post office on Marol Military Road be changed to avoid confusion, but did not receive any reply.
“I have written many letters to the postal authorities, but no one got back to me. People who live in Marol Naka have to travel all the way to Marol Military Road for things as simple as speedposts, or to deposit money. This had become a big problem because of which many pensioners suffer, having to travel long distances to Military Road for clearance of their pension,” said Amreliwala.
The postmen working at Marol Naka post office and JB Nagar delivery centre are also unhappy about their respective locations, as they feel it is located way in the interiors of the Military Road.
“The authorities have dumped us in one corner, and no one listens to our pleas of being shifted. Our post office was shifted here five years ago, and since then we have to cover the entire Andheri (East) area as ours is the only delivery centre in this area. Sometimes when there is a big parcel we wait long durations for auto rickshaws, because of which our shifts get extended,” complained a postman working at JB Nagar Delivery centre, on request of anonymity.

If the Marol Naka post office would have been at Marol Naka and not on Military Road, things would have been much simpler.
