Bhaderwah: A 13-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a youth in Hamdanpura village of Doda district following which he was arrested, police said today.

Bilal Ahmed (19), a resident of the same village, allegedly "lured" the girl, who is a student of class VII, and raped her for several days, SSP Doda, Zahid Naseem Manhas said.

"The youth was known to the girl and had reportedly enticed her with some gifts. After this he started coming to her house when the parents were away," the SSP said. "The accused allegedly raped the girl several times. The neighbours grew suspicious and yesterday they saw the girl in a distressed condition, following which they informed the girl's family that something was a miss," he said.

The girl's family then lodged a police complaint. "On the basis of the complaint and FIR was registered. Medical examination of the girl confirmed rape and her statement was also recorded," Manhas said.

"The accused, who had fled, was apprehended last night by a special squad. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime and was booked under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and other relevant sections of RPC," the SSP said.
