BSP candidate says he'll bring models to win him votes. Fat chance we'll vote him for the babes, say citizens
BSP candidate Vijay Raja Singh is going beyond buntings and speeches for votes. He's planning to walk the talk with young models.
Vijay (37), a brand management consultant contesting from Bangalore central,u00a0 said, "My constituency includes M G Road and Brigade Road, which have many young voters. So I will walk through these two major roads along with my model-friends. We will go from shop to shop and meet people on the road," he said.u00a0
The models will be mostly women and, unlike actresses on campaigns,u00a0 won't be in sarees or salwars.
"I have asked them to come in casuals. Since we are appealing to the youth, it will be good if they just be themselves," Vijay said.
Vijay will not hire the models; they are his friends. "Since I am into brand management, I know many models," he said.
u00a0Vijay also plans to cash in on the Mangalore pub attacks.
"My constituency has many pubs and restaurants. I want to assure the youth that they will be safe if I am voted to power," Vijay said.
"I have great concern for women. I am part of a party which wants to make Mayawati, a woman, the Prime Minister," he added.
Vijay has had no experience in politics and recently joined the BSP.
"I am ready to sacrifice my career and enter politics full time," he said.
Vijay plans to walk with his model friends on Friday or Saturday.
Shruti Kashyap, who works in the M G Road area, said it would take more than pretty faces to convince her to vote for Singh. "I'll look at the babes, but voting is another ballgame," said Vikram, who was walking by her side.
