Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi yesterday said it is his job to be informed on critical issues as he sought to defend his meeting with the Chinese Ambassador amid a border row with China.

He also took a dig at Narendra Modi saying he was not like the prime minister who was "sitting on the swing" when Chinese soldiers were entering India.

Rahul also questioned the government why three of its ministers were availing Chinese hospitality while tension along the border is on.

Questions the govt
"It is my job to be informed on critical issues. I met the Chinese Ambassador, Ex-NSA, Congress leaders from NE and the Bhutanese Ambassador.

"If government is so concerned about me meeting an Ambassador, they should explain why three ministers are availing Chinese hospitality while the border issue is on," he tweeted.

Rahul also put out a picture of Modi in the swing with Chinese President Xi Jinping during the latter's visit to

Gujarat in 2014, and said, "And for the record I am not the guy sitting on the swing while a thousand Chinese troops had physically entered India."
