With a hefty discount for the IPL season, Couch pub might just be the place to reduce your unwinding expense
Cricket on your mind? Our take: catch it over a drink on the couch. This IPL season, Couch has on offer a 50% off on their entire menu and that was reason enough for us to stop by for some team bonding.
Couch is split into two levels of seating; we chose to sit on the first with no energy after a long day at work to climb up to the next level.
We felt this place could stand to be a bit brighter on the first look, but once we were settled on our couch and had soaked in the plush vibe, it wasn't too bad after all.
The staff did seem a bit highbrow and stiff at first, but everything seemed to disappear in free-flowing jollity within no time.
A host of cricket freaks were around cheering with the staff stopping mid-way to catch a glimpse at the LCDs screening the IPL and cheer on too.

The ambience was kitschy, with a Moroccan feel, yet comfy.
Couch offers a decent variety of cocktails and hard drinks at prices that won't leave you gasping. We ordered a Long Island Iced Tea (Rs 350) and my friend a Bacardi Limon (Rs 180).
The Long Island Iced Tea (a cocktail of vodka, gin, white rum, tequila, triplesec, fresh lime juice and coke) was a heady mix and gave me the kick to relax my aching muscles after typing furiously on the keyboard and staring at the computer screen the entire day.
There's also a long list of international wines, martinis, mocktails and coffee liqueur-based drinks, but we left those for another night out. The beer is priced at Rs 80 a tap, Rs 200 a bottle and Rs 400 for a pitcher.
It was time to check out the eats on the menu. It was quite an exhaustive list and so my work buddies conveniently left it on me to place the order.
Since it was a last minute impulse to stop by at the Couch, we had not stepped in with soaring expectations. But though the multi cuisine grub here might not have hit the perfect T, it was pleasantly palatable.
Ordering could be quite a task, what with the sheer number of dishes under sections like tandoori, grills, burgers, sandwiches, salads, Italian, Mexican, Chinese and even desserts on the menu.

We called in for a plate of the tried and tested Reshmi Kebab (Rs 250) and Fish Fingers (Rs 300). The kebabs were succulent and the fish piquant, though a wee bit oily.
The Mexican Quesadilla (Rs 180) was cheesy and crunchy and surpassed all my expectations. Full marks to the quantity served too.
Only one drink down and it was time for the last order of the night, thanks to the city's Cinderella hour.
As Knock, knock, knocking on heaven's door played, a Multiple Screaming Orgasm (Rs 350) was what I wanted at the near midnight hour, made of Baileys, kahlua and vodka.

But this was probably not the night for one. They had run out of Baileys. So I settled for a Blue Lagoon (Rs 300) with vodka, blue curacao and lemonade.
My tall glass of concoction had all the zing I was looking for. Never mind our team didn't win the match, but we tipplers left the pub flittering and fluttering.
