Foodies Bar at the Domestic Airport is a great place for a quick drink. However, for a meal, we suggest you drop by another place nearby or settle for tried-and-tested ghar ka khana

Remember the airlines ad on telly, where an angry wife cooks a meal for her hungry husband in the middle of the night? When we were told about the newly opened Foodies Bar, that caters to hi-fliers, at Mumbai'su00a0 Domestic Airport, we thought the troubled wife might get a reprieve. For the sake of hapless wives we hoped this place would be good.

The food menu at Foodies Bar is extensive -- breakfast, mini meals, nibbles, mains and dessert. The drinks menu includes the basics -- beer, popular liquor, cocktails and mocktails. That's quite a spread for most of us who are so used to making do with dry sandwiches at airports. We chose the Chilly Cheese Toast and Potato Wedges (Rs 175) and Ham and Cheese Sandwich (Rs 160), along with a White Russian (Rs 350), to begin with.

This seemingly simple order took over half an hour to arrive at our table. The place wasn't too crowded and those present concentrated on their pints rather than meals. So the excuse could not have been a busy kitchen. The White Russian showed up first, sans peanuts or even a side salad.

Points were cut for not serving free nibbles with drinks and some more, for not providing a stirrer with the drink. A long wait later, the rest of the order arrived. The toast had barely any cheese on it and the sandwich wasn't exceptional. For the price we paid, it came across as a bad deal.

We avoided the mains, especially if we would have had to wait another hour for it to arrive. After all, we weren't flying out of the city and there were several eating options around the airport that wouldn't fleece us so blatantly.
