Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is making a 'speedy recovery' after a successful coronary bypass surgery, doctors attending on him said on Wednesday.
"His is a speedy recovery in the expected time frame," said Dr Vijay D'Silva, an ICU specialist from Asian Heart Institute, who is looking after the Prime Minister.
D'Silva also said that a decision to shift the Prime Minister from the ICU to another room will be taken after a meeting of doctors later in the day.
The 76-year-old Prime Minister, who underwent coronary bypass surgery on Saturday last, walked in his room on Tuesday and was put on a normal diet.
The Prime Minister's media advisor Deepak Sandhu on Tuesday said that Singh has been steadily making progress in his post-operative period and was being supported by a team of cardiac rehabilitation and physio-therapy experts at the AIIMS hospital.
Dr Ramakant Panda, a specialist cardiac surgeon from Mumbai's Asian Heart Institute, who had led the team of doctors during the over 11-hour-long operation, had indicated that Singh may not require intensive care beyond Wednesday given his quick progress.
