A 28-year-old housewife who was attacked by a gang of dacoits in the wee hours of June 4 succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment at a hospital last morning. The suspects had brutally assaulted the woman and robbed of her gold chain worth Rs 22,000.
The deceased woman was identified by the police as Rupa Hanumant Krishnan (in pic), a resident of Nehrunagar in Pimpri. Her husband Hanumant Krishnan (32) has lodged a complaint against the unidentified accused.
According to the Pimpri police, the unidentified suspects entered Krishnan’s house in the early hours on Wednesday. The suspects had bludgeoned the woman with steel rods.
Police Inspector BB Mudiraj, in charge of Pimpri police station, said “Rupa was unconscious, since she had received injuries on her head. Hence, we could not record her statement.” PI (Crime) KL Pawar said, “We have registered a case against the unidentifed suspects. However, we are yet to make a breakthrough in this case.”
