People in America and India look to US President Barack Obama with hope. The Americans, reeling under recession look to getting back to work at the earliest.
Indians, on the other hand, are hopeful it would be done at their cost.
"Obama will create more job opportunities in the US rather than cutting down on outsourcing," a hopeful Dhanjay Datar said.
BPO industry was quite apprehensive when Barack Hussein Obama was running for president. Throughout his campaign he maintained a tough stand against outsourcing jobs from America.
But now, these very people see him as a ray of hope. They feel he would take necessary steps to increase jobs in US, rather than downsize it in India.
Shridhar Shukla, founder and MD of G S Lab, a company involved in an outsourced project development, said that the chances of immediate change in the policies are bleak. Quoting a famous proverb, he said, "If it is working, leave it undisturbed."
Likewise, Dhanjay Datar, director of Impact Systems Inc said, "Obama is likely to create job opportunities in US itself rather than cutting down on outsourcing." Explaining the reason for same, he said, "Cost cutting and cost constraints are applicable in US too."
Bhaskar Banerjee, executive director of Entercoms, a leading KPO, said, "We can't foresee any major impact. Also, being a KPO industry, we help our clients to cut costs and hence, there would not be any negative impact on us."
Datar, however, cautioned that there will a lot of pressure on BPOs and KPOs in India to deliver.

Reacting on the general feelings that new regulations on outsourcing in US are is on its way, Shukla said, "If that happens, it will affect the new business more than the old ones."
