Met predicts heavy showers for 3 days

After a cloudy day, heavy rainfall lashed the city last evening, disturbing the traffic flow. Around 5.30 pm, waterlogging was reported in 12 areas including Alka Talkies, Timber Market, Jangli Maharaj Road, Lulla Nagara and Katraj. According to the fire brigade, traffic came to a standstill after water level reached three feet in these areas.

"Commuters are unable to drive through in these areas. We have been getting calls from stranded commuters," said Mahajan, an official from the fire brigade.

"I have been travelling across the city and the water level has reduced in certain areas. PMC workers are trying to remove the blockages from the storm chambers so that the water flows away," said Vivek Kadwarkar, Executive Engineer, Roads, PMC.

The Met department has predicted similar pattern of rainfall in the next three days.

"Till Monday we have received around 154.9 mm of rains," said Dr Medha Khole, director, Met department.u00a0u00a0
