Van ferrying them runs over divider leaving women with grave injuries; driver escapes unhurt
Eight women who work as bar dancers had to be rushed to a nearby hospital last night by onlookers after the driver of the van ferrying them hit a road divider on Jayanagar main road close to Jayadeva Hospital at
11.30 pm.

Maulik Paten, chief medical officer at Sagar Hospital said, "We have identified only one woman. Her name is Angel and she has incurred the worst injuries. Three other women have suffered head injuries."
Angel and four others were shifted to Ninhans while the rest were rushed to Sanjay Gandhi Institute of Trauma and Orthopaedic Hospital where they are expected to stay for further treatment.
Sub-Inspector Krishna Gowda from Mico Layout traffic police station said, "We have identified the driver as Shiva but he is absconding. No one has filed any complaint with us, so we cannot proceed in our investigations."
Shamil, an interior designer, was right behind the van when it hit the divider. He said, "The signal gave us the go-ahead and the driver in front of us raced his car. I think he was drunk when he hit the divider. After the mishap, I could hear the girls screaming for help."
