The rupee remained weak and depreciated further by 2 paise against the dollar in early trade on Wednesday as the US currency gained against other Asian currencies.
At the Interbank Foreign Exchange (Forex) market, the rupee eased by 2 paise to 46.26 a dollar. The rupee had closed lower 3 paise at 46.24/25 a dollar in the previous session.
Forex dealers said besides the dollar gaining against other Asian units and month-end demand from importers for the US currency, weak trend on the stock markets also weighed on the rupee sentiment.
