New Delhi: Even as Delhi Police filed an FIR against the attendants who had assaulted the doctor on duty after the patient died on Wednesday evening, triggering the strike, the doctors asserted that their stir won't be called off until there is a written assurance from the government to provide proper security in the hospitals.

According to a senior doctor at the hospital, an FIR for obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions and assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty has also been filed at the Safdarjung Enclave police station against the attendants for assaulting a doctor and hospital guard.

Medical Superintendent, A.K. Rai said that he spoke to Health Ministry officials, following which the administration has decided to appoint marshals. He clarified that there was no negligence on the part of the hospital staff in the treatment of the patient. A first year PG student was manhandled by the attendants of a patient at the emergency ward of the hospital Wednesday.
