Sharman Joshi is all set to make his TV debut with PokerFace. We introduce you to the host and dost

Barring Amitabh Bachchan, their are few Bollywood biggies who've been able to replicate their 70mm success on the small screen, whether it's SRK, Salman Khan or Farhan Akhtar in question. Still, comic actor Sharman Joshi isn't hesitant to join the bandwagon. He will be hosting Poker Face on Real, a channel that goes on air tonight. We quiz him on his week-long gameshow.u00a0u00a0

Host and dost: Sharman Joshi's TV debut with PokerFace

Is it a con game?
It's a combination of poker and quiz. If you can bluff with poise, you'll win. One must also be able to read body language. There will be five rounds, each played by six people, one of whom stands a chance to win Rs 10 lakh. Winners of each round will then compete within themselves for the position of the overall champ. The good thing is, it brings out extraordinary capabilities in ordinary people.

Do you really think it makes for an ideal debut vehicle?
The format of the show is very innovative. For people into creatives, this factor is like a magnet. Moreover, it has been shot on a short-schedule formatu00a0which means, if it starts this Monday, it'll wind up the following Sunday. If it's not a drag, it can't be that bad!

Who will be at the centrestageu00a0the audience or you?
It's contestants and not the host who define a reality show. My job is only to make them feel at ease, and help them navigate through the game.

Hmm. Does this mean we're going to see you more often on TV?
Certainly not in daily soaps. If something exciting comes up,u00a0 I will consider it. But right now, I haven't been offered anything else.

What's happening on the film front?
I'm looking forward to my forthcoming flicksu00a0To Baat Pakki (TBP), Allah Ke Bande and 3 Idiots with Aamir Khan. While TBP is a comedy, Allah Ke Bande deals with human drama, and starsu00a0u00a0 Naseeruddin Shah and Atul Kulkarni, too. It tells the story of two boys from the slum, and their lives. 3 Idiots, which is being directed by Rajkumar Hirani, is loosely based on Chetan Bhagat's famous novel, Five Point Someone.
