Taking a note of the never-ending chaos at the UID or Aadhaar card registration centres in the city, officials of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) have finally swung into action to ensure that the common man does not lose out on its benefits
It has been learnt that preference would be given to Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) holders and students eligible for scholarship schemes, in the form of special queues, at UID centres in the city and Pune.

While LPG holders would be required to produce the connection book or latest receipt of the cylinder, students eligible for scholarship schemes must carry relevant documents to the enrolment centres. UIDAI Deputy Director General Ajay Bhushan Pandey said, “There is chaos at enrolment centres because everyone wants to get registered at earliest. But preference will be given to LPG holders and students eligible for scholarships.
Their subsidies and scholarships depend on Aadhaar card. We will also request other departments to extend their deadlines. Citizens need not panic, as the enrolment drive will continue till December 2013. For those who are not LPG holders and students without scholarships, we request them to enrol after March 15, as there will be less chaos and we would be able to work in a much better way.” u00a0
