Mumbai-based Sand Cult - Sand Art Company is exhibiting a series of four different sand sculptures at the various Inorbit Malls in Mumbai (Malad and Vashi), the city and Hyderabad from August 31 to September 7. Displayed in the city over the weekend, the message was clear -- Save the Earth.
All the sand sculptures were done by renowned sand artists Tarani Prasad Misro and Narayan Sahu of Sand Cult. Jerry Jose and Raj Imran, founder members and Directors of Sand Cult -- Sand Art Company, said they conceptualise and execute customised and concept-based sand art.
Speaking about the exhibition, Jose said that each design was made of sand and water, which makes for the most eco-friendly form. "The first sand Ganesh exhibited at Malad depicts our planet, underlining the need to save our earth. In Vashi, it depicts 'Tree', drawing attention to our flora and fauna.
In Pune, it's a mermaid, symbolising our whole world under water. It's an elephant in Hyderabad, highlighting the need to save the wildlife in order to save the Earth. All the four items are connected and spreading the message of saving the earth," said Jose.
He added that the response was great and people were dropping in to have a glimpse of the sculpture.
"We have kept a notebook and have requested the guests to write their comments and the feedback that we have received is very encouraging.
Even though this art form is more than 100 years old, people are still not aware about it. We want to promote it," he said. Sand Cult also organizes 'Goa-India Sand Art Festival', an annual sand art festival in Goa with active collaboration of Goa Tourism.
