The border row between Karnataka and Maharashtra has now hit cinema too with Shiv Sena activists vandalising a theatre in Pune that was showing a Kannada filmu00a0 yesterday.u00a0 However, Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) does not want to stop distributing films to Maharashtra.
KFCC chairperson Jayamala said that this would not stop them from distributing films to Maharashtra. "Our distributors have not complained to us about this. So, we will go ahead with our distribution. Only if our distributors say that they cannot show Kannada movies there, will we think about it," she said.
Pune and Mumbai have a large Kannada population. "Kannadigas there want to watch Kannada films, and the films too do well there. We have no objection to showing Marathi films in Karnataka. Marathi movies are shown in Belgaum. We will not stop it," she added.
