A 17-year-old boy was admitted to Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital late on Sunday night after being shot at in New Seemapuri area of northeast Delhi.u00a0
The boy's mother reported to the police that at around 10 pm, Sonu (name changed) was sitting on the boundary wall of his uncle's home at D-70 in New Seemapuri when he felt a sudden impact on his upper arm. On close scrutiny it was discovered that he had received a bullet wound. Sonu lost consciousness later.u00a0
"We had received a message at around 10 pm about this and when our team reached the house we found the boy lying in a pool of blood. We immediately took him to the hospital. He is still in a critical state," said a police officer.
The perpetrators haven't been identified yet because the family has been unable to provide any clues. "We have no idea about the attackers. We don't know why they shot my child. He doesn't have any rivalries with any one," said Sameera, Sonu's mother.
Meanwhile the police have started probing to identify the attackers but local residents are angry because of the alleged negligence of the police.
"There is a police post just 100 metres away from the spotu00a0 but no cops were around at the time," said Chand Ram, a resident of the area.
The police are checking all vehicles passing through the area and are also keeping a tab on local history-sheeters.
"We are investigating this matter and we will find the culprits soon. We are already questioning some suspects," an officer said.
