Tharoor still king of tweets

Several online campaigns like 'We want Shashi Tharoor back' and 'Support Tharoor' have been drawing tremendous response from netizens.

Shashi Tharoor resigned as Minister of State for External Affairs on Sunday.

The resignation followed allegations that Tharoor used his connections to get free stakes worth crores in the IPL Kochi team for his friend Sunanda Pushkar, a spa owner.

"Tharoor will learn politics and emerge stronger as India needs leaders like him," said Mani Shamte, one of the 7,26,419 people, who follow Tharoor on micro-blogging site Twitter.

Foreign support

It is not just Indians who have come out in support of Tharoor.

However, along with the well-wishers, there is no shortage of people who advice caution.

"Now he should stand up and make a comeback. IPL was not the right way to help Kerala.

He should be more careful and judgmental about projects and people he deals with in future," said Hrish Thota, a social-media professional, who regularly follows Tharoor on Twitter.
