It's Barack Obama all the way on the Internet. First coloured US President rules India's social networking sites, discussion boards and blogs ahead of his swearing-in tomorrow

Aditya Vikram Singh, a BPO employee, has changed his status message on gmail and on Orkut. It says: "I am dying to see Barack Obama taking oath."

And Singh is not alone. Thousands of Indian netizens are on their toes to witness history in the making when the United States will see a coloured man taking over the reins of the country.

Before he gets to rule the most powerful country, Obama is already in control of the Internet. Social networking sites like Orkut are flooded with communities hailing the Democrat as the "beacon of hope" for the world hit by recession.

Obama, who has won a Grammy for his oratorical skills, was a huge hit for the first speech he made after winning the elections. And it wasn't just the words that he spoke; pictures of him speaking to a sea of people in an open park projected him as the real leader of the masses.

Netizens eager to catch the new leader of the world talking to his people almost blocked Youtube with millions of hits.

Obama is the darling of all bloggers at the moment who are scribbling about his future as the leader of the United States, his foreign and economic policies and his ability to put the world economy back on track.

Indian netizens are also putting up videos with a special messages for the Democrat on https://www.jointhewave.com/, expecting him to usher in a new era of progress and peace around the world. The website will also show the best swearing-in ceremony video from across the world.

There are more than 50 communities formed in support of the first coloured President of the United States on Orkut. Similar is the response on facebook, bigadda, ibibo and twitter.

Even as netizens are going crazy over Obama, cyber crooks are busy crafting spam and malware with Obama-related baits. The US Computer Emergency Response Team (US-Cert) has reported an increase in spam, malware and phishing scams related to Obama's inauguration.
