Bare bodies of women concealed with motifs of birds and butterflies. Nishant Dange from Mumbai, through his paintings in charcoal titled Mariposa brings out the apprehensions attached to sexuality through subtle portrayals of the nakedness of female body. These strokes of charcoal on white paper highlight the magic and sensual beauty and of the female form, giving birth to the hope that it will wipe away the world's darkness. Sparrows and butterflies symbolising a range of emotions divulge the temptations, sufferings, losses and triumphs related to the concept of love. The extensive use of black and white with a liberal dash of grey effectively brings out the chiaroscuro a work of light and dark adding an aesthetic effect to the stark nudity.
