A train mishap was averted when an alert passerby informed railway officials of a cavity formed on the tracks between Mulund and Thane.

Train mishap averted near Thane

Due to heavy rains that lashed Mumbai today morning a cavity was formed on one of the tracks between Thane and Mulund, which could have caused a mishap, but for the alertness of a passerby.

The passerby contacted the railway officials when he noticed a depression on the tracks. The officials then reached the spot and fixed the problem.


Train movement on the track was suspended and resumed only once the defect was corrected.u00a0Some passengers were also seen alighting from a stalled train onto the tracks.

Due to this train services on the Central Railways were delayed by 20-30 minutes.u00a0
