IGNOU proposes to expand its on-demand exam scheme in terms of subjects and centres
You don't have to wait for a particular month and date sheet for writing exams, if you are an Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) student.
The University has an on demand examination scheme, which was launched in December last year. Now, the varsity administration has decided to extend the same in terms of courses for which the initiative was launched as well as the centres where the exams are conducted.
By the end of this month 20 more courses would be added to the scheme and apart from Delhi, the exam would be conducted at Jaipur and Karnal too. The on demand examination is held for 15 courses at two regional centres in Delhi once a week on Friday. National Centre for Innovations in Distance Education (NCIDE) Director Dr O P Sharma, who has been given the responsibility to implement this project, said: "Earlier, those who took this exam had to come to Delhi but now we are trying to expand the centres. In the coming months the scheme shall be started at some regional centres in south India also. We are also considering an increase in the number of days on which the exam can be written."
In the new notification, Bachelor in Tourism and teaching programmes have also been added apart from other popular courses such as BA, B Com, BSc, MCA. Currently, the facility is available for all courses of Bachelor Preparatory Programme, Certificate in Guidance, Certificate in Teaching of English and Certificate in Organic Farming.
"The only obstacle in conducting such exams is preparing question papers. We have to prepare
different sets of question papers for each batch," said Sharma.
