"One of the two Hog deer had symptoms of pneumonia. The other couldn't cope up as it had conceived," said Dr BC Chittiyappa, assistant director (veterinary), BNP.

| "We had got new deer species from New Delhi," said Vijaykumar, a range forest official at the Bannerghatta National Park. "Two of the deer died. This is unfortunate. There was no lapse on our part. It was due to the stress suffered during shifting that caused their death. We are taking adequate measures to ensure the ones that survive are safe." |
