Indira Nagar is home for several IPS and IAS officers of repute and even senior retired government officials live in the surroundings. However, this does not have any effect on the plague of advertisements on walls and the pathetic road conditions. Residents complain that visitors and guests often face difficulties while trying
to locate any addresses in the area as a result of the BDA street signs and route maps being defaced or used to promote cheap advertisements.
"I have been living in the locality for the past 10 years and we have complained about people pasting advertisements and political manifestos on the route map here. However, the authorities have done nothing about it," said Jishy Kumar.
Clean-up soon?
BDA chairman B L Meena, who chaired a meeting following the corporation budget with officials to chalk out the plans on infrastructural development, feigned ignorance on the matter. "We will ensure a clean-up drive is initiated to remove these posters on the route maps. We will warn and penalise habitual offenders," he said.
