Strict verification, limited passes as state govt tightens access to Maharashtra winter session The Maharashtra legislature has tightened the entry pass system for the winter session currently underway at the Vidhan Bhavan in Nagpur and issued guidelines detailing the eligibility criteria, reported news agency PTI. An official circular stated that entry passes will be issued strictly for the session period and only to eligible government officials, legislators' staff, security personnel on duty and authorised employees working for the Assembly or Council. Contractors, canteen workers, daily wage staff and temporary workers will also require official permission to enter, said the order, reported PTI. Security has been strengthened, and the police have been instructed to allow access only to those carrying valid session passes issued under the supervision of senior security officials. As per the guidelines, one personal secretary, one special duty officer and one assistant from ministers' offices will receive full session passes. Departments may issue passes to a maximum of 30 officials and 20 staff members, and their names must be submitted in advance, said the order., reported PTI. Officials assigned duties on a rotational basis during the session will receive daily passes, while permanent session-long passes will remain limited. The circular states that strict verification will be carried out at all entry points to prevent crowding and unauthorised access, the order said, reported PTI. The EOW has initiated a process of freezing the bank accounts of Tejwani, who held the Power of Attorney (PoA) in the Mundhwa land deal. "An original sale deed, executed between Amadea Enterprises LLP and Tejwani, who acted as a power of attorney in the deal, was recovered by EOW," a senior official said, reported PTI. Police also recovered the original document pertaining to the PoA, which was given to Tejwani by 272 original watandars of the 40-acre land. The PoA authorised Tejwani to re-grant the "mahar watan" land in the name of the original land owners, reported PTI. In a related development, a court in Paud has remanded sub-registrar Ravindra Taru, who was arrested for allegedly facilitating the sale deed despite knowing that the land belonged to the government, to eight-day police custody. The land, allegedly worth Rs 1,800 crore as per the market value, was sold illegally to Parth Pawar's Amadea Enterprises LLP for Rs 300 crore. The investigation report had indicted a partner in the firm, Digvijay Patil, and Tejwani. An inquiry report of a committee headed by Rajendra Muthe, Joint Inspector General of Registration (IGR), stated that Taru (58) processed the sale deed on May 19 this year using a critical loophole in the registration system. Taru used the "skip" option in the e-mutation process to register a sale deed for government-owned land in Mundhwa, classifying it as "movable property" to bypass the mandatory verification procedures, the report said. As per police, land was illegally sold to Parth Pawar's Amadea Enterprises LLP for Rs 300 crore, despite the property's estimated market value of Rs 1,800 crore. "Sub-registrar Taru failed to verify this crucial fact, thereby violating Section 18 of Registration Act 1908. This section explicitly requires registrars to verify ownership status before registering any property transaction, particularly when government land is involved," the investigation report said. The report also names Amadea Enterprises LLP Digvijay Patil, as well as Shital Tejwani, who acted as power of attorney holder and sold the land. She has since been arrested. (With inputs from PTI)

The incident, according to police occurred at around 6:30 p.m. The incident triggered panic in the locality as villagers rushed to the spot and rescued both the trainer (pilot) and trainee safely. A video of the crash quickly went viral on social media. Speaking to IANS, C.S. Tekam, Investigation Officer at Kurai Police Station, said, "Both the trainer and trainee are out of danger. They have been taken to a private hospital. One has sustained a head injury and the other has injuries on the face. However, as company officials informed us, both managed to walk out of the plane to safety." The police officer added that the aircraft was a two-seater trainee plane, though the manufacturer's name is not yet known. The officer identified the trainer and trainee as Ajeet Anthony and Ashok Chhava, respectively. "We are waiting for instructions from higher authorities regarding the investigation,” he said, confirming that no human loss was reported despite one of the plane’s wheels getting stuck in a 33kV high-tension line, severing it from the tower before the aircraft landed on the ground. “The training company is operating in the area since 2023,” the police official said. According to eyewitnesses and preliminary investigation, the plane suddenly began to descend due to a technical glitch. “It might have lost power, and one of its wheels got entangled in the high-voltage line for a while." The heavy load severed the wire, causing a loud noise, spark and panic. "Fortunately, no major damage occurred,” the police officer explained. Locals reported sparks as the aircraft struck the wires, and within moments, villagers realised the plane’s occupants were in trouble. They rushed to the scene to help. Villagers also alleged this was not the first such incident, claiming training aircraft had overturned twice earlier while operating on the runway. They warned that had the plane remained stuck in the wires for a few more seconds, the consequences could have been devastating.
