UP resident arrested by Delhi police for impersonating director of All India Radio. Accused allegedly wanted to broadcast a programme
Now here's a novel way of getting yourself On Air. Parliament Street police have arrested a man who entered the offices of All India Radio (AIR), using a fake ID card, posing as the director of the broadcast agency. According to reports, all the accused wanted was to stage a radio play.

"The accused has been identified as Khalil Ahmed, a native of Rampur in UP. A fake identity card, declaring him as the AIR director has been found from his possession. We will interrogate him to find out what he was doing inside the AIR office with the fake ID card," said a police official.

The official said that Khalil was booked under sections 419 (impersonation) 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating) and 471 (using a genuine forged document). A senior police official on the condition of anonymity said that Khalil is fond of doing theatre. He wanted to do one for AIR.
Couldn't pull it off
"On Wednesday he came to the AIR office. He showed the guards the fake ID card of the director after which he was allowed to go inside. Jitender Nath a security official found him roaming inside suspiciously and asked him the reason. Khalil was flummoxed and could not explain his position. Police were informed and he was arrested," said the police.
Cops will now interrogate him to find out exactly how he managed to get the fake ID. "The ID card is embellished with some stamps of government offices. Police will interrogate him to reach up to the person who procured the card for him," said the police.
Meanwhile, speaking to MiD DAY, Khalil said that he paid Rs 500 to get the ID card. "I only wanted to get entry into AIR. My intention was nothing else," he told MiD DAY. Police said that further investigations in the matter
are on.
