Bad weather in city spoils Air Force Day full dress rehearsal
The untimely rains haven't spared anyone, not even the guardians of the sky.
The Indian Air Force (IAF) felt its impact on Tuesday as bad weather forced the cancellation of the Air Force Day parade's full dress rehearsal at Hindon, near Delhi.u00a0
Just like the Air Force D-Day, which is a much-awaited event for Delhiites, the full dress rehearsal too has the force flying its best fighters and choppers in an aerial extravaganza.
The day started with a brief spell of rain in and around Delhi but there was some respite when the sky cleared a little and visibility improved. "It was disappointing as we had been preparing for this day for quite some time," said a junior commissioned officer of the IAF, wishing not to be quoted.
The fly past, which began with three fighters opening up the sky, missed the exclusive display of Sukhois - the frontline fighters of the IAF- and Mirages. A helicopter display team of Sarang which enthralled the public with its skilfull maneuvers saved the day. The choppers were followed by an aerobatic display team of Surya Kirans but that too was cut short because of bad weather.
The only respite was the Air Warrior Drill Team, which held the audience spellbound with its maneuvers of bayonet-fitted rifles.
