Northwest Delhi resident loots 52 mobile phones and a car to get the girl of his dreams

All is fair in love and war - you can't have missed this adage. For Jeetendra, it was all about love. And the 25-year-old stole 52 mobile phones and a car in his pursuit.

Jeetendra is a resident of Mukherjee Nagar in northwest Delhi and owns a mobile shop in the locality. He often visited the Nokia care center in the area for repairing of handsets. There, he met Madhu (22), a customer care representative, and fell in love with her. There was but one problem. Madhu was having an affair with Dhiraj (27), the owner of the Nokia care center.

All for love: Jeetendra stole this car to settle scores against his rival in love

"Jeetendra had a two wheeler but Madhu had greater ambitions. Dhiraj, on the other hand, had a black Santro car. Jeetendra became jealous of Dhiraj and thought of teaching him a lesson. In December 2009, he stole Dhiraj's car and later dumped it somewhere in the area. Dhiraj lodged an FIR in December 2009," a police officer said.

But Jeetendra's thirst for revenge wasn't quenched. He wanted Dhiraj to suffer more.
"A while after the car theft, Dhiraj began whitewashing his Nokia care center. For securing all the mobile phones in the shop, he sent them to Madhu's house. But Jeetendra got this information somehow. He managed to steal 52 mobile phones from Madhu's flat," the officer added.

"He stole the mobile phones which were to be sent for repairs. He wanted to destroy my business. As it happened, after the theft the customers started asking for their mobile phones and I went through a lot of embarrassment," said Dhiraj.

The most interesting aspect was how the police nabbed Jeetendra after 4 months. The IMEI numbers of the mobiles had been put on surveillance and one of the stolen phones was recovered somewhere in UP.

"We found one of the mobiles and we got the user. The mobile user told us he bought the mobile from Jeetendra's shop. We questioned Jeetendra but he said that someone had left the handset for repairing at his shop and when he didn't come back to claim it, he sold it. We booked him in the case, but he managed to get bail," the officer added.

A few days later, local police found Dhiraj's car with a fake number plate parked in a narrow road in Mukherjee Nagar.

"We found a black Santro abandoned in the area. We deflated the tires and watched it for three days. On the third day, that is 17th of May, Jeetendra approached the car and opened it. Our men immediately nabbed him. In the interrogation he confessed he had stolen the mobile phones and Dhiraj's car out of jealousy. 51 mobile phones were recovered from the Santro," the police officer added.

Jeetendra is a graduate from Delhi University, is married, and has a 3-year-old child. But as another popular saying goes: "Love is blind."
