Why bear in silence when help is at hand.

The Delhi Police's anti-obscene calls cell has ensured that those who like to talk dirty over the phone should be brought to the book. No wonder, the service that includes a helpline has been a huge hit.

The service is very user friendly, as a complainant does not necessarily has to be physically present to lodge his/her complaint. Calling the helpline numbers 27894455 and 9911135446 can do it.

The complainant can also forward the objectionable text or the obscene MMS to the mobile number along with the sender's number. The complaints can also be e-mailed to acp-sit-dl@nic.in

"We initiate action on such complaints immediately. A complainant can register a formal case against the offender but even if the doesn't we ensure that the calls should stop," said Rajan Bhagat, public relations officer, Delhi Police.

A senior police official pointed out that in most cases the investigating officer calls up the complainant and gather details about the caller after which the accused is approached. "In a number of cases, a simple call by the police does the trick. But, we have also arrested hardcore offenders," he said.
