Kejriwal aide taken to Mumbai for phone data retrieval

Bibhav Kumar, an advisor to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, has been transported to Mumbai to retrieve data from his formatted iPhone. Kumar was arrested on Tuesday after allegedly attacking AAP MP Swati Maliwal, police said. Kumar is currently in five-day judicial detention in connection with the Swati Maliwal assault case which happened at the Chief Minister's Delhi house. Police said Kumar formatted his phone before sending the data to someone or a device in Mumbai. His phone was taken after his arrest, but it was discovered to have been wiped clean, reported agencies.  The report added that the authorities stated that in Swati Maliwal assault case the sequence of crime recreation is critical in determining whether the claimed formatting was used to remove critical evidence from Kumar's phone. Based on their findings, the Delhi Police would either seek more time in remand or activate Section 201 in the case, police sources told ANI.  Section 201 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) punishes individuals for destroying evidence of a crime. Meanwhile, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to investigate the Swati Maliwal case. The SIT is headed by North Delhi's Additional Deputy Commissioner Of Police (DCP) Anjitha Chepyala who has been handling the investigation. Three Inspector-rank officers are also included in the SIT, which includes the officer of Civil Lines Police Station where the case was registered, the ANI report stated.  According to the report, the move comes a week after the party Rajya Sabha MP accused party chief Arvind Kejriwal's former personal secretary Bibhav Kumar of assaulting her at the Chief Minister's residence. Reportedly, on Monday, the Delhi Police took the accused in Swati Maliwal assault case Bhibav Kumar to drawing room of Kejriwal's residence to recreate the events that transpired on May 13.  According to officials, the police took notes on the answers to all of their inquiries in order, plotted them, and photographed the scene of Swati Maliwal assault case. Meanwhile, on Friday, Bibhav Kumar had filed a counter-complaint with the police, alleging Maliwal of 'unauthorised entry' into the CM's Civil Lines residence and 'verbally insulting' him. BJP causes sitting MP Jayant Sinha for skipping campaigning

Amid ongoing India General Elections 2024, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday slapped a show cause notice on former Union Minister Jayant Sinha for not taking part in campaigning after Manish Jaiswal was declared candidate from the Hazaribag Lok Sabha seat and thereby "maligning" the party's image, reported news agency PTI. Sinha, son of former union finance minister Yashwant Sinha, is the sitting MP of Hazaribagh. "You are not taking any interest in organisational work and India General Elections 2024 campaigning ever since the party declared Manish Jaiswal as the candidate from Hazaribag LS seat. You did not even feel proper to exercise your right of franchise. The party's image has been maligned due to your conduct," BJP state general secretary Aditya Sahu said in the notice, reported PTI. Sinha was conspicuous by his absence during polling in Hazaribag constituency on Monday. The party has sought an explanation from Jayant Sinha within two days, following instructions from state BJP president and former Jharkhand chief minister Babulal Marandi. Asked about future course of action, Sahu told PTI that it would depend on Sinha's response. Sinha did not respond to calls and messages in this regard. Hours before the announcement that Jaiswal would be the candidate for Hazaribagh, Sinha had requested party leadership to relieve him from electoral politics. In a post on X on March 2, the MP said he would continue to work with the party on economic and governance issues and wanted to focus his efforts on "combating global climate change in Bharat and around the world". "I have had the privilege of serving the people of Bharat and Hazaribagh for the past ten years. Moreover, I have been blessed by the many opportunities provided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and the BJP leadership. My sincerest gratitude to all of them. Jai Hind!" he had said in that post. Hazaribag, a high-profile urban constituency in Jharkhand, was once represented by Yashwant Sinha and later his son, Jayant Sinha. Sinha won the seat by a margin of 4.79 lakh votes, defeating Congress's Gopal Sahu in 2019. Notably, Jaiswal had earlier contested from the Mandu assembly seat on a JVM ticket. Kejriwal's silence for 4 days shows dual standards: JP Nadda on Swati Maliwal

BJP president JP Nadda on Monday attacked Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over the alleged assault on Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal in the chief minister's residence alleging that his silence for four days clearly shows his "double character and dual standards". Nadda held a road show in the New Delhi constituency in favour of BJP candidate Bansuri Swaraj. During the rally, Nadda said the atmosphere of the entire country and Delhi is in favour of blessing PM Modi. "The BJP under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi will get over 370 seats and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will secure more than 400 seats. There is one-sided atmosphere and the BJP is going to win all the seven seats in Delhi. "You see the excitement. This New Delhi constituency was once a stronghold of the AAP and today see how everyone is eager to bless PM Modi and Bansuri Swaraj to win the election," Nadda said. He further claimed that the number of people voting for the BJP is more than 50 per cent. "The foundation of this party (AAP) and the leader is rooted in lies since the beginning. They have lied on every occasion. "This incident (Swati Maliwal assault case) somehow came to light that is why it has come to our attention. We don't know how many such incidents have taken place with others," he said. Nadda recalled that the chief secretary of the Delhi government got assaulted in Kejriwal's official residence. "This is their style of work. Kejriwal's silence for four days and shifting the microphone from one side to other clearly shows his dual character and double standards," Nadda stated. The BJP president alleged that Kejriwal has been exposed in front of the people of Delhi and the country, and no hope can be expected from him. It is necessary to make them sit at home, he added. Kejriwal was addressing a press conference on May 16 at Lucknow with Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav where the Delhi chief minister was asked about the incident. He avoided the question and it was fielded by Yadav and AAP MP Sanjay Singh. In February 2018, the then Delhi chief secretary Anshu Prakash had alleged that he was assaulted by the AAP MLAs at Kejriwal's residence in the presence of the chief minister and Manish Sisodia, who was then the deputy chief minister.
