YSRCP Lok Sabha member PV Midhun Reddy, who was arrested in an alleged multi-crore liquor scam was produced before Vijayawada ACB court on Sunday, which remanded him to judicial custody till August 1, an official said. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) arrested Reddy on Saturday in the alleged Rs 3500 crore liquor scam during the previous YSRCP regime.

The SIT probing the alleged liquor scam grilled Reddy for several hours on Saturday and followed it up with his arrest at around 7.30 pm in Vijayawada. Earlier this morning, SIT officials took Mithun Reddy to a government hospital in Vijayawada, where doctors conducted a medical examination. “The medical team found no health complications; hence, he was presented before the court as per legal protocol,” a police officer said. Reddy represents Rajampet constituency in Andhra Pradesh.

Chargesheet names Jagan

A chargesheet filed by the Andhra Pradesh police in connection with the scam has mentioned former chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy as the recipient of kickbacks averaging Rs 50-60 crore per month. The 305-page chargesheet filed on Saturday, however, stopped short of naming Jagan accused. The court is yet to take the cognizance of the chargesheet. The chargesheet has nmed Rajasekhar Reddy as “the mastermind and co-conspirator” behind the entire Rs 3500 crore liquor scam.
