St Stephen's College and St Thomas School in Delhi received bomb threats via email on Tuesday, triggering an immediate response from emergency services at both premises and extensive search operations by the authorities, reported news agency PTI.
Meanwhile, teams comprising the Delhi Police, a bomb disposal unit, dog squad, and the fire brigade swiftly arrived at the scene and conducted thorough inspections.
While on the other side the Deputy Commissioner of Police (North), Raja Banthia, confirmed that St Stephen's College reported receiving the bomb threat at 7:15 am.
"The email claimed that four IED bombs and two RDX devices had been planted within the college premises and library, stating they would explode by 2 pm," Banthia was quoted as saying in a police statement.
Moreover, officers from Maurice Nagar Police Station and other agencies quickly reached the location. The entire area was cordoned off, and a comprehensive check is currently underway. Officials have stated that nothing suspicious has been found during the investigation so far.
According to PTI, the fire department received a call regarding a bomb at St Stephen's College at 8:50 am, and another call concerning St Thomas School was received at 8:01 am.
"We have dispatched multiple fire tenders to the scene. Nothing suspicious was discovered during the check," a Delhi Fire Service (DFS) spokesperson stated.
Meanwhile, this incident follows similar events on Monday, when three schools in the national capital received bomb threats, which authorities later declared to be hoaxes. These threats were sent via email in the early hours of Monday to CRPF schools in Sector 16, Dwarka, and Prashant Vihar, as well as the Navy Children School in Chanakyapuri.
As police reported receiving calls around 8 am regarding the bomb threats from the CRPF Schools in Prashant Vihar and Dwarka Sector 16, and also from the school in Chanakyapuri.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Ankit Singh said, "Early on Monday morning, Dwarka North police station received a PCR call reporting a bomb threat at CRPF School here. The area was promptly secured. Local police, sniffer dogs, and bomb disposal squads arrived at the school and conducted all necessary checks."
