Sleuths of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) have discovered three flats in the name of the son and wife of Police Inspector Rangnath Gaykar (56), who was arrested on Tuesday for demanding a bribe. They also found evidence of six plots acquired by him.

Gaykar was arrested after a former corporator lodged a complaint against him. After his posting to the Kondhwa police station, Gaykar allegedly accumulated the flats and plots within a year.

Before Kondhwa, Gaykar was posted at the Byculla police station in Mumbai.

"One flat in Market Yard and two in Sinhagad Road area were owned by Gaykar in the names of his son and wife," said Deputy Superintendent of Police Ajay Kadam. "Apart from these flats, Gaykar had purchased plots in Mulshi, Katraj and four other locations."

Former corporator Ajay Bhosale had alleged that Gaykar demanded a bribe from him to drop a case against him.

Gaykar and Assistant Sub-Inspector Raghunath Salunkhe were arrested on Tuesday on the charges of demanding a bribe by an ACB team led by Kadam.
