Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis slammed Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s claim that the 2024 Maharashtra Assembly polls were “stolen.” Fadnavis mocked Gandhi, saying he should “get his brain checked” after the Congress leader accused the Election Commission of colluding with BJP to manipulate the voter list.

Just a few hours after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi organised a press conference highlighting the voter list manipulation by the Election Commission, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis firmly rejected Congress MP Rahul Gandhi's allegation. The Congress leader, while drawing major attention to the Maharashtra Assembly Poll 2024, said that the 2024 assembly polls in the western state, won with a decisive mandate by the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance, were "stolen".

Rahul Gandhi, while speaking to reporters at AICC headquarters in New Delhi, said that “Maharashtra results confirmed his party's suspicion that the assembly elections were 'stolen',” as cited by news agency PTI.

The Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha further asserted that, “Not giving machine-readable voter lists convinced us that the Election Commission (EC) colluded with BJP to 'steal' elections in Maharashtra," as per news agency PTI.

However, Rahul Gandhi’s remarks on the Maharashtra Assembly polls have surely ignited a fire in the Maharashtra BJP spectrum. While speaking to reporters near Panaji, CM Fadnavis took a jibe at Gandhi over his voter fraud claim in Maharashtra, where assembly polls were held in November 2024.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said, "I feel that, maybe, he (Gandhi) should get it (brain) checked," as per news agency PTI.

Devendra Fadnavis also said, "Either his brain has been stolen or a chip in his brain is missing. That is why he is making such statements often.”

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was in Panaji on Thursday to attend an event where he was the chief guest.

The BJP-led Mahayuti alliance scripted a stunning victory in the 2024 Maharashtra assembly elections by winning 230 seats in the 288-member House. The BJP alone bagged 132 seats, the highest among all constituents of the Mahayuti alliance. Its allies Shiv Sena and the NCP also performed well, winning 57 and 41 seats respectively.

The Congress-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) suffered a major setback during the Maharashtra Assembly Polls in 2024. While Rahul Gandhi took a strong jibe at Karnataka, he did not state much about the Maharashtra Assembly polls.

Congress registered one of its worst performances in the assembly polls, as it won only 16 seats in the Maharashtra Assembly 2024. However, Sharad Pawar's NCP (SP) bagged just 10 seats, whereas former CM Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena (UBT) won only 20.
