A 21-year-old woman expressed the depth of her love for her boyfriend by “marrying” his corpse after he was allegedly killed by her father and two brothers in Nanded district of Maharashtra, reported the PTI.

Videos of woman’s unusual act at the deceased’s home, along with her demand for capital punishment for her family, went viral on social media.

According to the Nanded Police, her boyfriend, was standing with friends in the old Ganj area on Thursday evening when a quarrel broke out between him and the woman’s brother, Himesh Mamidwar.

Himesh allegedly shot the deceased, the bullet piercing his ribs, and then struck him on the head with a tile, killing him instantly. Himesh, his brother Sahil, and their father Gajanan Mamidwar were arrested soon after, officials added, according to the PTI.

On Friday evening, the woman arrived at the deceased's house as preparations were underway for his last rites. Eyewitnesses said that she then “married” the deceased, claiming the act would make their love “immortal.”

Later, speaking to reporters, she demanded the death penalty for her father and brothers for killing her boyfriend, the news agency reported.

Police further stated that both the deceased and the main accused, Himesh, were known history-sheeters and had previously been close friends. The Mamidwar family had opposed her relationship with the victim who was identified as Saksham Tate, but the couple’s insistence on continuing it reportedly culminated in Saksham’s murder and the dramatic posthumous “wedding,” police added, as per the PTI.

Meanwhile, in an another incident, a 39-year-old man suspected of murdering his wife in Dombivali area of Maharashtra's Thane district has allegedly committed suicide, a police official said on Saturday, according to the PTI.

A massive search was on for Popat Dilip Dahij after his wife Jyoti Dahij (29) was found dead on Tuesday in their flat in Dombivali's Kolegaon area.

The alleged murder came to light after Popat, a mason by profession, failed to report to his workplace and his employer sent a staffer to check on him at his house.

As per preliminary investigation, she had been strangled as well as attacked with a sharp weapon.

"We began tracking Popat's movements by placing his mobile phone under surveillance. Kurla railway police informed that an unidentified man had ended his life at Bhandup station in Mumbai on Friday. With the help of his broken mobile phone, it was confirmed the man was Popat Dahij," Manpada police station senior inspector Sandipan Shinde said, reported the PTI.

"It appears he committed suicide. The motive of the murder is currently suspected to be a domestic dispute. Further probe is on. His body was handed over to kin," Shinde added, the news agency reported.
