Minister Dadaji Bhuse made the announcement at the inauguration of the two-day State-Level School Education Conference in Balewadi, Pune.
Zilla parishads and municipal corporations that excel in promoting quality and innovative education initiatives in Maharashtra will receive incentive prizes of Rs 5 crore for first place, Rs 3 crore for the second, and Rs 2 crore for the third position, School Education Minister Shri Dadaji Bhuse announced on Friday.
He was speaking at the inauguration of the two-day State-Level School Education Conference in Balewadi, Pune. The event was attended by the School Department Principal Secretary Ranjit Singh Deol, Education Commissioner Sachindra Pratap Singh, Maharashtra Primary Education Council State Project Director Sanjay Yadav, State Educational Research and Training Council Director Rahul Rekhawar, State Examination Council Director Nandkumar Bedse, and other directors and education officers from across the state.
Addressing the gathering, Bhuse emphasised that “education should be enjoyable, quality, broad, and national.” He urged the department to implement innovative initiatives to make Maharashtra a leader in education, highlighting the role of artificial intelligence, technology, infrastructure improvement, the Pradhan Mantri Poshan Shakti Yojana, scholarship examinations, and the Nipun Bharat Abhiyan.
The minister also highlighted the value of educational trips, suggesting visits to historical sites, agricultural activities, and banks to enhance the learning experiences of students. He further directed the organisation of an elocution competition on the 300th birth anniversary of Lokmata Punyashloka Ahilyadevi Holkar and a quiz on the 150th birth anniversary of Birsa Munda.
Announcing administrative reforms, Bhuse said the 15 school-level committees have been consolidated into four for better functioning. He also confirmed that the scholarship examinations for Class 4 and Class 7 will resume from the next academic year.
Deol stressed that local self-government bodies must prioritise education and health, urging municipal commissioners to implement government initiatives at the grassroots level. Singh spoke about the quality of education, the National Education Policy (NEP), Nipun Bharat targets for 2027, and ongoing school-level initiatives.
During the ceremony, Bhuse also released the Teacher and Officer-Employee Competition Guide, which includes 36 competitions and six Olympiads, prepared under the guidance of Rahul Rekhawar.
The conference also included discussions on the New Education Policy 2020, the PARAKH assessment survey report (to measure learning outcomes), administrative reforms, holistic education, and other educational initiatives.
Officers from various districts presented innovative practices implemented in their regions, and were honoured by the minister with mementos and books.
Officials also discussed administrative matters such as Class 11 admissions, Group School Scheme (for inclusive education), Unified District Information System for Education (UDISE) Plus (for school database), and teacher recruitment approvals.
Schemes from the Maharashtra Primary Education Council, NEP 2020 action programmes, competency-based question banks, e-Vidya channels, and yoga curriculum guides were highlighted for effective implementation.
Bhuse also directed schools to organise annual gatherings, student sports competitions, patriotic drills on January 26, 2026, and announced an increase in prize money for science exhibitions.
