Air India on Wednesday announced that it is operating special flights between Delhi and Kathmandu on September 10 and 11 to assist passengers stranded amid Nepal Gen Z protest.
Following the unrest in Nepal, the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu was closed. Due to airport closure in Nepal, many home-bound passengers were unable to return from Kathmandu. However, the country's international airport in Kathmandu resumed operations Wednesday.
Nepal has been facing mass protests that has caused widespread damage to government buildings and toppled the government in the country.
Air India announced that its regular scheduled flights to and from Kathmandu will resume from Thursday.

In an official announcement, Air India said, "Air India is operating special flights today and tomorrow from Delhi to Kathmandu and back to help passengers who have been stranded due to the recent developments in Nepal. Our scheduled operations will also resume from tomorrow. We thank the government and other agencies for the quick coordination to facilitate this in the interest of our passengers. Meanwhile, Civil Aviation Minister K. Rammohan Naidu announced on Wednesday that Air India and IndiGo will operate additional flights from Kathmandu to help bring back passengers who were stranded in the Nepalese capital.
The minister said this step was taken following the reopening of Kathmandu airport, which had been closed earlier, preventing many people from returning home.

"With the airport in Kathmandu now operational again, the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA), in coordination with Air India and IndiGo, has arranged additional flights starting this evening and continuing over the next few days, along with regular flights resuming tomorrow," Naidu posted on X.
He also mentioned that airlines have been advised to keep ticket prices reasonable to avoid burdening passengers.
